A-Level Law Students Gain First-Hand Insight into the Legal Profession in London Visit
Day One
On Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th March, 11 of our A-Level Law students had the incredible opportunity to travel to London for an enriching two-day experience exploring the legal profession. Accompanied by Mr Arnold and Mrs Jacks, the students were welcomed at Drapers’ Hall before heading to Queen Mary University of London.
The visit to Queen Mary included a guided campus tour, a stimulating workshop with the university’s Law team. The tour included an introduction to their free Legal Advice Centre, which provides valuable support to the community while offering students practical legal experience.
Following this, the group returned to Drapers’ Hall for an exclusive tour. Rich in history and tradition, Drapers’ Hall offered students a unique perspective on the long-standing relationship between the Drapers’ Company and the legal profession. Our school’s affiliation with the Drapers’ Company continues to provide our students with extraordinary opportunities, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing support and generosity.
Day Two
Day two took the group to one of the UK’s most iconic legal institutions – The Old Bailey: Central Criminal Court. Students engaged in a captivating Q&A session with two judges, offering personal insights into their careers and the realities of working within the justice system. A highlight was the tour of the infamous Court One, known for its high-profile cases such as the Kray twins trial.
The students then observed two live murder trials from within the well of the court – an intense but deeply educational experience. This rare opportunity left a lasting impression, sparking renewed motivation among those already pursuing Law and inspiring others to explore future careers in the legal field. Several students are now considering volunteering roles, including Witness Support, and even beginning the application process to become magistrates.
This was an unforgettable and inspirational trip for all involved, and we look forward to offering similar experiences to our future A-Level Law students.
