On Thursday 13th February, Thomas Adams School had the honour of hosting visitors from the Drapers Company: Professor Morag Shiah, the current Master of the Drapers Company, and Gillian Croxford, Assistant Clerk with special responsibility for the Drapers Schools network.

The annual visit provided an exciting opportunity to showcase the incredible work being done at the school.

The Schedule of the Day:

Welcome The visit began with a warm welcome as our guests arrived at the school.

New Build The tour began with a visit to the newly built facilities, where Mark Cooper and Jennifer Whitfield introduced the guests to the state-of-the-art spaces ahead of its opening. This fantastic addition to the school’s facilities will create capacity for one-to-one or group work to promote engagement and inclusion

Exploring Textiles and Sixth Form Portfolios The group then visited the Textiles department, where Kate Mead showed off the creative work of our Sixth Form students.

Year 10 GCSE Blood Brothers & Art Department Visit Following the textiles showcase, the group moved on to a fascinating insight into a Year 10 GCSE class working on Blood Brothers. The tour continued with a visit to the Art department, where the guests were able to see the diverse range of artistic talent thriving at the school.

Graphics Department Showcase Mark Cooper met Dan Haycocks for a tour of the Graphics department, showcasing the cutting-edge design projects students were working on.

Walk to Sixth Form via the Library The group walked to the Sixth Form buildings, passing through the school library along the way.

Light Lunch at Adams House The afternoon’s schedule continued with a light lunch at Adams House, where head students and boarders joined the guests, along with staff members. It was a chance for everyone to connect personally and discuss the future of the Drapers Schools network.

Tour of Boarding and Sixth Form After lunch, the visitors took a brief tour of the boarding and Sixth Form areas.

Departure The visit concluded, and the guests left the Noble Street site, reflecting on a successful day.
