Students from Thomas Adam School received the exciting opportunity to form the ball crew at The Shrewsbury Club’s ITF World Tennis Tour event this month.

The event ran from Saturday 14th October with the final taking place on Sunday 20th October at The Shrewsbury Club.

Simon Haddleton, the director of tennis at The Shrewsbury Club, has been helping the ball crew prepare for the event by coming in to school to deliver ball crew training. Over sixty students have been busy training for their roles.

Everyone who took part in the ball crew received uniform throughout the tournament, kindly sponsored by DMOS People. Pupils also got to meet some of the tennis players including 22-year-old, Armani Banks.

On Sunday, Sonay Kartal and Heather Watson met in an all-British Shrewsbury final. Sonay Kartal’s excellent week at The Shrewsbury Club ended with the British number four happy to be crowned Lexus W100 Shrewsbury champion.

As a thank you, Headteacher, Mr Cooper, invited all students to a Headteacher’s breakfast with juice and pastries and a photo opportunity .

The whole experience has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to be a part of one of the UK’s largest international tennis tournaments.
