Celebrating World Book Day: “Read Your Way”
We celebrated World Book Day with the theme “Read Your Way,” highlighting the joy of choosing what, when, and where to read. The day was packed with engaging activities, including assemblies that explored various reading materials, book-themed quizzes, and a design-a-book-token competition. Students received £1 book tokens and eagerly participated in a range of creative challenges.
Since World Book Day 2024, our library has expanded its collection with over 400 new books. We encouraged the school community to share their favourite books, engage in discussions about reading, and donate used books to support the library’s growth and foster community engagement.
At Thomas Adams, we’re putting the emphasis on ‘World’ for World Book Day. We now have a fantastic collection of books in European languages on loan from the Institut Francais. Our librarian’s favourite is Biblioburro – a lovely story about a Colombian man delivering books to children in remote areas by donkey. These books are now available in the library.
The English Department added a touch of whimsy by dressing up as characters from Alice in Wonderland. Year 11 students had a fantastic time being creative and exploring language by crafting their own versions of the iconic Jabberwocky poem with Miss Black during class.
Overall, we had a great day filled with fun and learning for everyone involved.
