Di Cooper Celebrates DofE Honour

Thomas Adams School is celebrating the achievements of Diana (Di) Cooper, who attended a special Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) celebration at Buckingham Palace.

Di received the invitation after a nomination from Angelique Gilbert, who leads the DofE programme at the school. The invitation recognised more than 25 years of service to the award and her dedication to supporting young people.

A Long Commitment to DofE

Di has supported the programme for more than 25 years. Today, she serves as the school’s Bronze and Silver DofE Assessor. In this role, she helps students build confidence, resilience and independence.

Over the years, Di has guided many students through their DofE journey. Her support has helped young people develop new skills and achieve their goals.

A Special Day at Buckingham Palace

The celebration formed part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award’s 70th anniversary year.

The event brought together Gold Award holders and volunteers from across the UK. Guests enjoyed refreshments in the Buckingham Palace gardens and listened to a range of speakers throughout the day.

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, hosted the event. He thanked guests for their commitment to the charity and the young people it supports.

Well-Deserved Recognition

Angelique Gilbert said:

“Di’s commitment to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award over the past 25 years has been exceptional. She has supported countless students through their awards and has given so much of her time to help young people succeed. It was wonderful to see her recognised with an invitation to such a special event at Buckingham Palace. This honour is thoroughly deserved.”

The event highlighted the important role volunteers play in the success of the DofE programme.

Di’s invitation was a fitting tribute to her years of service. Through her dedication and enthusiasm, she has helped generations of students gain valuable experiences and life skills.

Everyone at Thomas Adams School congratulates Di on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for her outstanding contribution to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
