Year 10 student, Luke, is absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news with his teachers.

Luke has had the opportunity to meet and be visited in his own home by a former Thomas Adams alumni, Greg Davies. Greg grew up in Wem, which he regards as home. Greg was educated at Thomas Adams School before studying drama and English at Brunel University, graduating in 1990. Prior to embarking on a career in comedy, he taught drama for 13 years at a number of secondary schools.

Greg is best known for his roles as Mr Gilbert in The Inbetweeners (2008–2010), Ken Thompson in Cuckoo (2012–2019), Dan Davies in Man Down (2013–2017) and Paul “Wicky” Wickstead in The Cleaner (from 2021). Since 2015 he has hosted the comedy panel game show Taskmaster. Greg has also appeared on Mock the Week, Fast and Loose, Live at the Apollo and Would I Lie to You?

Luke has had a really challenging year medically and has recently received a Diabetes Type 1 diagnosis.

Luke’s father, Peter, a Dad of three Thomas Adams boys, openly shared with us that Mum has been battling stage 4 cancer. Luke’s Mum has received treatment for two brain tumours and is currently receiving end of life care in hospital.

Luke’s Mum had “meeting Greg Davies” written on her bucket list and the family were absolutely thrilled when he agreed to meet them all and chat to the boys in an effort to lift their spirits. Luke’s father expressed his gratitude to Greg in fulfilling his wife Paula’s dream to meet him in person.

Thomas Adams staff and pupils will continue to support the family through this difficult time.
