April marks Month of the Military Child. This is a time to recognise and celebrate the resilience, sacrifices, and experiences of children from military families.

We are proud to support around 60 military children in our school community. These pupils often move schools, experience long separations from loved ones, and adapt to new environments. Despite these challenges, they show resilience, strength, and adaptability every day.

This week has been a special opportunity to celebrate their achievements.

Year 9 student Ava achieved national success. She won a competition and received her award at Westminster Parliament last Wednesday. Ava read her poem in front of MPs and military officials. She also shared her poem with Year 7 students in assembly this morning. She spoke with confidence and pride.

Across the school, pupils are taking part in a range of activities. These include a red, white and blue themed lunch, art and poetry workshops, and creative competitions. We have also created a dedicated display in the library. This display celebrates the experiences of service families and has been entered into a national competition.

Many of the materials used in the display are recycled. This reflects both creativity and sustainability.

We encourage students to visit the display once it is complete. It offers a chance to reflect on the experiences and contributions of our military children.

We are also proud to offer dedicated support for service families through our boarding provision, helping students feel settled, supported, and part of a strong community no matter where life takes them.

If you are a service family and would like to learn more about how we support military children, please get in touch with the school.
