We were delighted to welcome 18 students from Darul Hikam Secondary School in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a four-day educational visit to Thomas Adams Sixth Form.
The visit gave our guests direct experience of Sixth Form life in the UK. Dressed in their smart traditional uniforms, the Indonesian students integrated into our Year 12 timetable and joined lessons across a range of subjects. Their time here also aimed to enhance their English skills and immerse them in British culture through daily interactions and local homestays.
Local excursions, organised by the Telford School of English, gave them the chance to explore the surrounding area and enjoy new experiences beyond the classroom.
The visit was a two-way learning experience. Our students gained a deeper understanding of Indonesian culture, particularly during the final day’s cultural exchange. In a vibrant celebration, the visiting students performed a traditional Indonesian folk dance in the school hall. Sixth Form students and host families attended the event, which brought the visit to a memorable close.
Before leaving, the visitors presented thoughtful gifts to the school. In return, we offered a small gift to thank them and mark the friendship between our communities.
It was a pleasure to host such respectful and engaged young people. We look forward to future opportunities to connect and learn with schools around the world.
Students from Darul Hikam Secondary School visit The Thomas Adams Sixth Form for an educational and cultural experience
