Headteacher, Mark Cooper, spoke to the Shropshire Star about the Thomas Adams’ unique position as one of the country’s few remaining state boarding schools.

Mark said that boarding brings diversity, provides pupils with different experiences and is a thoroughly ‘valued’ part of the school.

Mr Cooper said:

“We as a school value much more than the academic pathway. I want young people during their education experience to build memories, friendships, lifelong skills and achieve their academic potential. For anybody that visits the school the feedback is always about how warm, welcoming and friendly it is. It is a community school where staff, pupils and visitors are all a key part of the community and contribute”.

The school has benefitted since joining the The 3-18 Education Trust in 2020, having seen significant investment in its facilities including its fire safety provision, IT infrastructure, and more recently a new student support building has been erected and will aid young people with any additional needs or requirements.

Furthermore, students have benefitted from the expansion of the school’s library facility and new classroom screens for teaching.
