On Friday 6 March, students represented Thomas Adams School at a community celebration for International Women’s Day held at Wem Town Hall.

The school hosted a stand at the event, where two Head Students, two Computer Science students and two members of the Adams Aware Group welcomed visitors and spoke with members of the local community.

Throughout the afternoon, students shared their experiences at school and discussed the importance of encouraging young women to pursue opportunities in all areas of education and future careers, including STEM subjects.

International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on 8 March, recognises the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while also highlighting the importance of continuing progress towards gender equality.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with the community while celebrating the achievements and aspirations of women and girls.
