As we approach the Easter break, after what has been a busy, productive and long term, I am sure that pupils and staff will agree that they are all ready for a well-deserved break. Year 9 have nearly all finalised their GCSE choices and are looking forward to starting GCSEs, with Year 7, 8 and 10 all working hard on their studies. Whilst Year 11 and 13 pupils are preparing for the quickly approaching exams, our aim must be to maintain a calm focus on preparation and revision, ensuring they take advantage of the time over Easter. It is absolutely certain that bit of extra commitment now will have a significant impact when the exams start.

I would hope that the majority of pupils in year 11 and 13 have now got a clear plan for their next steps after Thomas Adams. If this isn’t the case please feel free to contact us at school and we can assist the process. With regards to Thomas Adams Sixth Form we are still open for discussions about applications.

Attendance of students to school remains a key focus for us. This supports the best outcomes at the end of Year 11 and Sixth Form, as well as developing great habits for employment and life beyond Thomas Adams. Year 9 have the best attendance for the spring term, 95%, so well done – it would be great to see the other year groups match or better this next term. In order to support this, please ensure that you continue to make all GP and dental appointments outside school times and in school holidays. To find information about your child’s attendance you can access Go 4 Schools – www.go4schools.com, where you can also find school reports, current academic and behaviour data. Full instructions on how to access this information are available on our website https://www.thomasadams.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Access-to-Go4Schools-%E2%80%93-Letter-2-of-2.pdf. To support home learning, we have sessions at lunchtime every day in the computer rooms and on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 4.30pm. These sessions are open to all students. The Study Hub, for Year 12 and 13 students, in Sixth Form is open until 5.00pm.

As always, I would like to thank all parents and carers for their continued support of the school as we all endeavour to educate the young people in our care. If you have concerns or issues please feel free to contact us and I am sure we can work together towards a solution; this communication is absolutely crucial.

I wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable break.
