Record Bronze Expedition Success
Sixty-three Year 9 students completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition on 5 and 6 June. This group represents the largest Bronze DofE cohort in the school’s history.
Students spent two days exploring the Shropshire Hills. They covered a total distance of 23 kilometres and showed determination, resilience and teamwork throughout the challenge.
On the first day, teams walked 12 kilometres across Ragleth Hill and Caer Caradoc. They then arrived at their campsite in Cardington, where they pitched tents, prepared meals and worked together to complete camp tasks.
The adventure continued on day two. Students hiked a further 11 kilometres over The Lawley before finishing at Leebotwood. They navigated their routes, carried their equipment and supported one another every step of the way.
The Bronze DofE expedition gives students the chance to develop important life skills. They learn how to work as a team, solve problems and become more independent. The expedition also encourages confidence and perseverance in unfamiliar situations.
Every student embraced the challenge and represented the school with pride. Their positive attitude and commitment helped make the expedition a great success.
Congratulations to all 63 students on this outstanding achievement. They should feel proud of everything they accomplished. Their efforts have set a new milestone for the school’s Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme.
