Thomas Adams School is delighted to have received a special thank you from STEPS Charity following a £1,000 donation raised through the school’s Afternoon Tea fundraising event earlier this year.
The charity was selected by the Student Council after a powerful and personal nomination from student Addison, who shared her experience of living with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).
Born with the condition, Addison has overcome significant challenges throughout her life, including wearing a harness as a baby, undergoing two operations and learning to walk again. During her presentation to the Student Council, she spoke about the impact STEPS has had on children and families affected by DDH and other lower limb conditions, highlighting the valuable support provided by the charity.
Addison’s story inspired the Student Council to choose STEPS as one of the charities to benefit from the school’s fundraising efforts, including the popular Afternoon Tea event held in July.
Following the donation, STEPS Charity sent a message of thanks to the school, expressing its appreciation for the support and explaining how donations help the organisation continue providing guidance, information and assistance to families around the world.
The donation is another example of how student voice can make a meaningful difference at Thomas Adams School, with students helping to shape fundraising initiatives that support causes close to their hearts.
The school would like to thank everyone who attended, donated and supported the Afternoon Tea event. Their generosity has helped contribute to the important work carried out by STEPS Charity and the support it provides to families affected by childhood lower limb conditions.
