GCSE and A Level Drama Students Attend The Woman in Black at the Alexandra Theatre

Last Thursday, our Year 10–13 GCSE Drama and A Level Drama students visited the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham to watch the acclaimed stage production of The Woman in Black.

The production, adapted from Susan Hill’s classic ghost story, gripped the audience with suspense and tension, using imaginative staging, atmospheric lighting, and precise sound design rather than elaborate sets.

Throughout the performance, students engaged closely with the story of Arthur Kipps and the mysterious spectre, observing professional actors as they brought each chilling moment to life. The visit gave students first-hand insight into live theatre, enhancing their understanding of performance techniques, dramatic tension, and storytelling—directly supporting their GCSE and A Level drama studies.

The trip offered an inspiring, immersive experience, showing students the power of theatre and the creative possibilities of live performance.
