Students from Thomas Adams School demonstrated their musical talent at the Oswestry Youth Music Festival, held at the beginning of March at venues across Oswestry.

The festival, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, gives young singers and musicians the chance to perform in a wide range of competitions throughout the week. These include vocal and instrumental solos, duets, ensembles, rock bands and choirs.

Ewan Johnson, Isobel Wales, Imogen Booth and Alice Whitfield represented the school in the vocal classes and delivered confident performances across the week.

Ewan Johnson won first place in the Operetta competition with his lively rendition of Modern Major General from The Pirates of Penzance. Imogen Booth also secured first place in the 15 & Under Musical Theatre competition with her performance of One Perfect Moment from the musical Bring It On.

Alice Whitfield won the 15 & Under Classical competition with I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls. She later performed the piece again at the festival’s final concert, where she competed alongside instrumental finalists.

All four students performed superbly throughout the week and represented Thomas Adams with confidence and pride.
