How we will support you
As a student at Adams College, you’ll be given support every step of the way. Our staff offer guidance and help throughout your time with us, helping you to face an exciting future with confidence. The atmosphere at college is one of encouragement and we work together to achieve your very best.
If you’re new to Adams, you’ll be warmly welcomed by everyone. Last year, approximately 175 students joined Year 12. Of these 40% were from other local schools or were international students either joining our boarding house or staying with host families in the area. This interesting mix of young people gives Adams College a cosmopolitan buzz and a unique energy which we’re sure you’ll enjoy!
For those wanting to make new friends, we have ‘Network’, a small group who meet weekly and arrange trips out together. This group is a great opportunity for students to mix with new faces or to meet other like-minded people.
Once a week, a cognitive behavioural therapist is on hand to see students on a self-referral basis. We also have regular visits from a trained sexual health nurse who can offer information advice and guidance about any issues affecting you.
To further support you, our team of dedicated teaching assistants work closely with subject teachers to ensure that any special educational needs are met. We liaise with your previous school and ensure that plans to support your learning are in place before you begin college. Michelle Keane is the college’s SEN co-ordinator and will answer any queries or questions you may have about settling into college life.
We also hold dedicated Focus Days on Safeguarding, a Career Focus Day in February and our Focus on Your Future days in July with a variety of speakers, workshops and trips to help you start to plan your future beyond Adams College.
