Tom Earns Place on National Orchestral Course

Year 11 student Tom has been accepted onto the highly respected English Schools’ Orchestra course for 2026.

This achievement recognises his performance at Grade 8 standard on the trombone. Entry to the course is highly selective and open only to advanced young musicians from across the country.

Over five intensive days, Tom will rehearse with professional orchestral tutors and experienced mentors. He will take part in full orchestra rehearsals, sectional coaching, and focused individual practice. The programme is designed to develop high-level ensemble and performance skills.

The course will conclude with a public concert at Milton Court, part of the Barbican Centre and home to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, on Sunday 1 November at 3.00pm in London.

Tom is pictured below with Director of Music, Mrs Heywood, who has supported his musical development throughout his time at the school. Her guidance has played an important role in his progress and success.

This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of Tom’s dedication, discipline, and talent as a young musician.
