Thomas Adams Teacher Named One of UK’s Top Biology Teachers

Thomas Adams School is proud to celebrate Biology teacher Miss Evans, who has been named one of the top three biology teachers in the UK by the Royal Society of Biology.

One of her sixth form students nominated Miss Evans for the 2025 School Biology Teacher of the Year Award. This national award recognises exceptional teaching and the impact teachers have on their students.

Judges from the Royal Society of Biology recently visited the school to observe her in action. They watched a high-energy lesson on blood and blood cells, followed by a revision session with sixth form students.

Students spoke warmly about Miss Evans. One told the judges, “You’re the reason we came to this school, Miss!” The judges praised her teaching style as innovative, passionate, and thoughtful.

Although Miss Evans didn’t take home the final title, reaching the national top three is an amazing achievement. To everyone at Thomas Adams, she’s our winner.

Mr Cuthbert, Head of Science, said:
“It’s fantastic to see Miss Evans’ work recognised. She delivers excellent lessons every day, and the judges clearly saw that.”

Headteacher Mr Cooper added:
“There are many unsung heroes in teaching. We’re proud to have staff like Miss Evans recognised for their commitment and talent.”

Reflecting on the nomination, Miss Evans said:
“It’s such an honour to be nominated by a student. We’re all here for them, so it means a lot to be appreciated in this way.”
