U15s Reach Back-to-Back County Cup Finals
Our U15 cricket team can be immensely proud of their achievements after reaching the ECB/ESCA Shropshire U15 T20 County Cup Final for the second consecutive year.
The team earned their place in the final with an outstanding run through the competition, recording victories over Corbet School, Wrekin College and Ellesmere College. Their performances throughout the campaign showcased the talent, determination and teamwork that have become hallmarks of this group.
In the final, Thomas Adams faced a strong Shrewsbury School side, who elected to bat first and posted an impressive 183-4 from their 20 overs.
Despite the challenging total, the bowling attack worked tirelessly to keep the hosts in check. Bobby delivered an excellent spell, claiming 2 wickets for just 22 runs from his four overs, while captain Ralph bowled with great control to take 1 wicket for 20 runs.
Shrewsbury’s innings was led by an outstanding knock from Oscar, who scored 73 from only 40 deliveries and was later named Player of the Match.
Chasing 184 for victory, Thomas Adams responded positively. Bobby produced a superb innings of 52, while Ralph added 44 as the pair shared an excellent 89-run partnership for the second wicket. Their efforts kept the chase alive and demonstrated the quality and resilience that had carried the team to the final.
As the innings reached its closing stages, Shrewsbury fought back with a flurry of wickets to secure victory by 61 runs. While the result was disappointing, the boys never stopped competing and represented the school with great determination throughout.
The players should take great pride in their performances throughout the competition. Victories over Corbet School, Wrekin College and Ellesmere College, followed by a place in the county final, have made this another memorable season for school cricket.
