Celebrating World Book Day

World Book Day 2026 is almost here! On Thursday 5th March, our school will be celebrating with a week full of exciting reading activities and events designed to inspire students of all ages.

Highlights include:

  • Book Swap in the Library – trade your favourite reads with fellow students.
  • New Reading Captains – meet the students who will be supporting their peers in reading across the school.
  • Literary Dress-Up – our English and French departments are bringing stories to life by dressing as their favourite characters.
  • Flash Fiction Competition – students can showcase their creativity; entry forms are available in the Library.
  • Author Spotlights – engaging video features shared during English lessons.
  • Murder Mystery Library Challenge – solve clues and uncover the story!
  • World Book Day Tokens – distributed to all students.
  • ‘Go All In’ Videos – shown by Sixth Form Tutors during form time.
  • Sixth Form Prize Draw – recommend a book for a chance to win.

We’re also encouraging students to complete the National Literacy Survey, helping us understand reading habits across the school. We’ve already received over 450 responses—an incredible start!

We would also like to share a fantastic Book Magazine with parents/guardians to read – BOOKDROP MARCH 2026

Take a look at our new house Reading Captains, ready to champion a love of reading across the school.

We can’t wait to see everyone get involved in celebrating the joy of books!
