Students and staff across the school came together to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 5th March, with a week full of activities designed to inspire a love of reading.

The Library became the hub of activity throughout the week. Students took part in a Book Swap, giving them the chance to exchange favourite reads and discover new stories. The popular Murder Mystery challenge also proved a hit, with students working together to follow clues and solve the case.

Creativity was on full display in the Flash Fiction writing competition, while lessons began with engaging author spotlight videos to introduce students to new writers and literary voices.

Staff also joined in the celebrations, with members of the English and French departments dressing up as their favourite literary characters, bringing some well-known figures from books to life around the school.

Earlier in the week, we also announced our new Reading Captains, who will help champion reading and support their peers across the school throughout the year.

Students received their World Book Day tokens, encouraging them to choose a new book of their own, and our Sixth Form students were invited to recommend their favourite reads for a prize draw.

As part of the celebrations, students were also invited to complete the National Literacy Survey to help us better understand reading habits across the school.

It has been a brilliant week celebrating books, storytelling and the joy of reading. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this year’s World Book Day such a success!
