Parents

Q: What does your son/daughter enjoy most about boarding at Thomas Adams?
A: The lifelong friends made.

Q: How has boarding helped your son/daughter grow or improve?
A: My son has become significantly more independent, able with help to organise his time and mature.

Q: What advice would you give to a new parent considering boarding?
A: It is a sacrifice we give for our children. While it can be hard especially for overseas boarders the impact on their development is huge. Even having another adult reminding your child to revise is impactful and our relationship with our son is stronger now.

Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: Thomas Adams provided a safe and nurturing place for our son to do his A Levels. It was a perfect transition from our home to independence and has prepared him for University in a way that he wouldn’t have got if he hadn’t boarded.

Sending our daughter to boarding school was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. From the very beginning, she felt welcomed and supported, and she quickly embraced the experience. One of the things she loved most was the constant presence of her friends, being surrounded by peers created a unique bond and sense of community that she still talks about today.

Boarding gave her the freedom to discover who she is. She truly flourished in an environment that encouraged individuality and gave her the space to grow. She often said how much she enjoyed doing things on her own, it made her feel like a grown-up, which in turn helped her build a strong sense of independence.

The experience also had a profound impact on her confidence and self-discipline. Living away from home taught her to take responsibility for herself and her time, and she became more organised, focused, and motivated. It’s been amazing to watch her grow into a mature, confident young person, and we credit much of that development to her time at boarding school.

To any new parents considering boarding for their child,  I wholeheartedly encourage you to take that step. It’s a unique and valuable experience that your child will carry with them for the rest of their life. It’s more than just school

A: I enjoy spending time with my friends.

Q: How has boarding helped you grow or improve?
A: I have grown to be independent.

Q: What advice would you give to a new student considering boarding?

The best thing about boarding at Thomas Adams is definitely the community and the constant buzz of activity. There’s always someone around to chat with, whether it’s late-night study sessions in the common room, impromptu games of football on the field, or just hanging out and watching a movie. You build really strong friendships, and it honestly feels like a second home, even when your actual home is miles away
