Requirements
Admission to Thomas Adams Sixth Form is based on academic achievement and a commitment to learning. The general entry requirement is a minimum of Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics.
Specific subjects may have additional requirements; for example, a grade 7 in Mathematics may be necessary for A-Level Mathematics. We assess each application individually, considering the student’s overall academic profile and potential.
Students who do not meet the standard entry criteria may still be considered for admission, particularly if they demonstrate a strong work ethic and aptitude for their chosen subjects. In such cases, tailored support plans are developed to help these students succeed.

Bursary Scheme
This government scheme is available to help pupils in further education, to support and help them with costs such as transport, meals, books and equipment.

Financial Support
The 16-19 Bursary Funds are used to assist students who may have difficulties attending or completing a
course due to financial considerations
The 16 -19 Bursary Fund has two elements:
1. Vulnerable Student Bursary: Young people in care, care leavers, young people in receipt ofIncome Support or Universal Credit and disabled young people in receipt of Employment SupportAllowance who are also in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payments will be eligible to receive a Bursary of £1,200 a year.
2. Discretionary Bursary: Schools can use their discretion to make awards to young people in waysthat best fit the needs and circumstances of their students. Discretionary Bursary awards should be targeted towards young people facing financial barriers to participation, such as the costs of transport, books and equipment.
Applications from students in the priority categories will be considered first and, once their applications have been met, should there be any remaining funds these will be distributed accordingly.

FAQs
Who can apply for the Bursary and Hardship Funds?
- Any student over 16yrs old who is enrolled on a two-year A level / A level equivalent course at The Thomas Adams Sixth Form.
- Students that have been ‘ordinarily resident’ in the British Isles or European Union for purposes other than education for the last three years.
- To be eligible for the Discretionary Bursary (16-19 year olds) the household income must fall below £35,000 annually.
- To be eligible for the Vulnerable Student Bursary of £1,200 students must be aged 16-18 and either be in care, a care leaver, in receipt of Income Support or Universal Credit, or be disabled and in receipt of Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and also in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payments (PIP)

When do I have to return the form?
Funds are limited. Whilst we will accept applications throughout the academic year, the initial deadline is the end of September. This process must be completed each year of your studies to release funding.
